Description
Nourishing Shower Soap with Rosemary from Ticino
In Ticino, there is a collection of heirloom rosemary varieties, supported by the Swiss foundation ProSpecieRara.
Heirloom Varieties
Morobbia is less a village than a part of a small, isolated valley north of Bellinzona.
In this small valley, an old variety of rosemary has been preserved and is now part of ProSpecieRara’s extensive rosemary collection. In collaboration with the Azienda Cantonale di Mezzana in Coldrerio.
To raise awareness of these very distinct rosemary varieties, I developed the recipe for this nourishing shower soap.
Plenty of Vitamin E
The main ingredient in this gentle, skin-friendly cleanser is organic olive oil from Puglia.
It is complemented by organic shea butter from East Africa.
Shea butter is, as everyone knows, THE beauty product par excellence on the African continent. And rightly so!
The scent of rosemary
We’re all familiar with that wonderful aromatic herb, rosemary.
But did you know that there are very different varieties of rosemary, with a wide range of flower colors and scents?
That’s not all…
In my opinion, creating a fragrance is the most difficult part of soap-making.
Morobbia features a blend of mandarin, rosemary, and sweet marigold.
Other rosemary soaps from my workshop are: Madonna del Piano
and: Compromise

Block and half-block
A whole block can be cut into 15 bars of soap weighing approximately 100 g each.
A half-block can be cut into approximately 7 bars of soap weighing 100 g each.
Liquid
Fill about 1/3 of an empty shower gel bottle with soap shavings.
Then fill the bottle with water. Shake.
After about 24 hours, most of the shavings will have dissolved and you will have your own liquid shower gel made from high-quality raw materials.
Anwendung
For showering.
Either you simply use the piece of soap without any auxiliary implement. Or then you use the practical “DuschSäckli“.
Another option would be the ingenious magnetic soap holder: makes things a lot easier in terms of handling.
Healthy skin
According to LOTS of feedback I have heard throughout the years the imporant points seem to be:
– if possible: don’t take a shower on a daily basis
– use soap (or any cleaning agent) only in the “neuralgic” spots – not on all of the body
– rinse well – everywhere
– try not to rub yourself too rigorously with your towel; better would be to pat the moisture away; leaving some water on the skin would be optimal
Due to the essential oils it’s not recommended for kids unter 3 years of age
Hard / soft
Industrial soap or natural soap which is made with palm- or coconut oil tends to be very hard.
Old olive-oil soap also tends to be hard.
Relatively fresh natural soap – made without palm- or coconut oil – can be a wee softer than the kinds mentioned above.
In order to achieve favorable characteristics for our skin, I absolutely want special oils in my recipes 🙂
And some of these tend to make my soaps a bit less hard.
This is the reason why I classify my DuschMödeli into different “degrees of hardness”.
On a scale between 1 (very hard) and 5 (very soft) this Mödeli would figure at “2″.
Longevity
Keep it dry. Don’t let it sit in water. Then it last the longest.
Helpful could be the soap pouch or the magnet soap holder.
